New Year pictures from Slovenia have now been loaded. What a great time we had. The hospitality was second to none so a big thank you ever over there. Can't wait to go back and do it all again!

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Katja and Simona for making us all feel so welcome in Slovenia. Apart from taking us to all the local bars, clubs and restaurants, Katja even took time of work to see us off at the station on our way home. We all had a great time especially in the club on Monday night, which we wouldn't have found without your help.

Here’s something to do when you want to kill 10 minutes, an online jigsaw. For some reason it seems more fun that a normal jigsaw but the maybe that’s because I have only played it a few times. You can even change the shape of the pieces to look like Euro’s or even 240 small triangles. Now that one should keep you busy!!

Better start off with a belated Happy New Year to everyone. Sorry for all the inactivity with the site recently. For those who don't know I was in Germany for New Year, don't worry the photo's will be posted soon, so not had a lot of time to update the site. I have also been working on change in colour scheme for all the people with old pc's who claim they cant see this to well. So far I have come up with nothing to match this so you're stuck with it for the mean time!

Only 11 sleeps to go until Christmas! Was sent this lovely Christmas card yesterday with sound which reminded me I must get all mine sent soon. Unfortunately, my card won't be as good as that one as I can't write Flash programs yet. Maybe something I'll need to teach myself next year???

No postings about the football for a while so time I mentioned the qualifying draw for the 2006 World Cup. Scotland got an interesting draw against Italy, Slovenia, Norway, Belarus and Moldova. I don't know about our chances but there will definitely be some good holidays in there!!!!

New site name is up and running as you will have discovered by now. I registered the name with a Danish company called B-One. Not only were they cheap for hosting, only 90p a month, but they also seem to offer a really good package with regards to web space, files transfers and email accounts etc. Lets hope their reliability is just as good!

Brrrrrrr, it's been a cold one today as it didn't get above 0°C all day. At least its still along way short of Scotland's coldest recorded temperature of -27.2°C in Braemar in 1982. And if you think that's cold then just be thankful you don't live in Vostok in Russia which holds the record for the worlds coldest temperature of -89.2°C and the average temperature is a cool -55°C.

Okay, I have been slacking but I'm back now. Life has been a bit hectic what with football and holidays. The good news is Scotland finally got to the Euro 2004 play off's. Bad news is we were drawn again Holland so it's a tough tie and we'll have to play really well to qualify. Of course the best part is it means a trip to Amsterdam, wahooooooo!!!

Just been reminiscing about with my holiday in Germany and realised I have to give the Deutsche Bahn a mention. DB is the German train network and has to be one of the best in Europe. Not only do the trains run on time, there are trains all night to useful destinations including Bochum were we stayed. Just don't try and look for a station called Willkommen like some people I know!!!

Don't you just love the web. I managed to find a site with the train times for Eastern Europe including Sarajevo in Bosnia to Prague via Budapest. Also my favorite flight site, Travelocity, allows you to book multiple destination such as flying into Bosnia and then flying back out of the Czech Republic. Suddenly my East European adventure is looking more and more like reality!

Time to book another holiday? My football team from Edinburgh, Hearts FC, were today drawn against NK Zeljeznicar from Bosnia in the first round of the UEFA cup. The same week the Scotland woman’s team are playing against the Czech’s in Prague so if I put the two together we have the makings of an East European adventure taking in Bosnia, Croatia, Hungry, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Just think of all the passport stamps!

Ever been looking for a new pair of trainers but not been able to find some you like? Well why not design your own. Came across this site last night and thought it was rather cool. Also discovered last night that I make a mean Thai Green Trout Curry. Now our staff canteen has trebled in price I’m back to cooking dinner again so Delia Smith watch out!!!!

Ok, I’m back. After a longer than planned delay my daily updates are back. I wasn’t sure if anyone read them until people have actually told me they missed them so they are back. Since my last posting I have had an excellent but expensive trip to Oslo in Norway to watch Scotland play football. Lovely county, lovely girls but at £5.30 a pint I don’t think I’ll be moving there just yet. It’s Germany in two weeks to watch Scotland again which should be a little cheaper but it’ll still be a quiet time until then. Not to worry as I have found myself a new toy and no it’s not inflatable! You all remember scalectrix, or slotcars if you are americian? Well I have found where it to play on the web and its soooooo much fun. You can even build your own track!!! Oh and I am feeling a lot better thanks everyone.

Don't you just hate being ill ? A night on the toilet is never much fun but it's even worse when all you can smell is fish!! Hopefully it's just a 24hr bug and not down to the trout caught yesterday that I had for dinner but either way I'm off back to bad. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Off to the Lighthouse Bar tonight to celebrate Gary's birthday which is on Tuesday. He's becoming an old man as he'll be 33 this year and to think I have known him since I was 3 1/2 then that's almost 30 years!!!! I guess that's one good thing about living in Edinburgh, the choice of good bars!

Well its good to see a fellow Scot win the latest version of Big Brother. I'm not a fan of the show but anything that help put Scotland on the map is a good thing, even more so as the winner is an Orcadian. For all those who don't know, an Orcadian is someone that comes from the Orkney Islands, a small group of island at the very north of Scotland. It's a place I have to confess that even I haven't been although that's mainly because it is cheaper to fly to Europe such as Paris than it is to fly to Kirkwall in Orkney. I guess it's just another place to add to my every growing list of places to visit!

I know it's not nice to be pick pocketed but I could help but laugh when I read that the new security chief for the 2002 Winter Olympics was pick pocketed on a recent trip to Moscow. Although it did remind me of the time when I thought my wallet had been stolen on the London underground only to be told by the man next to me that is was in my hand. How stupid did I feel!!!!

Well the shortlist was published today for this year Mercury Music Prize and maybe it's a sign that I'm getting old but I only have one of the albums on it. The days are long gone when I used to know what number one was in the music charts! At least the album I do have is the excellent Lost Horizons by Lemon Jelly and well worth a purchase if you don't already have it. As for the rest of the list, I think my CD burner maybe busy over the next few days!

Wouldn't life be simple if everyone had broadband / adsl internet. Then you wouldn't have to decide whether to sacrifice picture quality for download speed. If you are wondering what I am moaning about now, I had my first complaint about my download speeds today. They were using a 56k modem at peak time so I'm not to worried but if it continues then I guess I'll have to look into JPEG compression. Oh the joys of the web!

Aghhhhhhhhhh, discovered today that my picture links weren't working properly! I've fixed them now but if you still can't see them then you'll need to refresh your explorer as you'll still be holding on to the old cookies. So it's not been a very good start to the week. Work was busy to and to top it all I lost at the football. Oh well at least that is Monday over.
